Kruse, Steven M.

May 8, 1957 - May 21, 2014

Steve Matthew Kruse “Kruser” passed away on Wednesday, May 21st at the age of 57.  Steve is survived by his loving wife Donna Marie, his mother Joy Kruse, his daughters Christina and husband Tony Essex, Danielle and husband Justin Estell, and his son Adam Kruse.  Steve was a very loving and caring husband who gave from his heart unconditionally.  His life was abundantly filled with joy, laughter and love because of his two precious granddaughters, Wynter and Faith.  To them, he was Grandpa Magic.   Steve was the kind of Grandpa who took them on magical adventures that always ended with ice cream.  As a Father, he always had great words of advice, a funny story and a warm smile.

Steve’s professional career was in the RTO industry and he was a well-known advocate of the industry.   Steve’s professional home was Bestway Rent-to-Own where he spent the past 25 years as their IT Director and Operations Analyst. Steve was a loyal and valued team member of Bestway where they considered him the “BEST” in Bestway.   Steve had recently elected to take early retirement due to his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.    Steve was the first recipient of APRO’s  Steve Kruse Award of Honor one day earlier on May 20th at APRO’s 50th Anniversary Industry Convention.

Steve’s hobbies were fishing, traveling, was an avid poker player, backyard family time grilling, all things Disney, especially “Grumpy” and dining out and finding new places to experience and savor new foods.

Steve’s Memorial Service will be on Saturday, June 7th at North Dallas Funeral Home, located at 2710 Valley View Lane in Dallas, Texas at 11:00 a.m.   A celebration of Steve’s life will follow immediately in the Atrium of Churchill Tower located at 12400 Coit Road in Dallas, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Steve’s wishes and his family is requesting that donations can be made to The Epilepsy Foundation of Texas, in honor of his granddaughter.

Donna Marie Kruse says:

My loving husband Steve. You are an amazing man. I was truly blessed to have you in my life, and honored to be your wife. I never knew what it was to truly love someone until I met you. It breaks my heart that we only had four short years together. I love you forever. Donna Marie

Adam Kruse says:

You were my father and taught me how to be a man who cared for others with no regard to recognition; how to serve as an example for others to follow and how to really make the world a better place. You were an endless source of guidance and inspiration and I’ll never stop missing you. I love you, Dad.

Dan Ends says:

I had the pleasure of working with Steve at Crown Leasing Corp. He was the most kindest man I have ever known! R.I.P. my friend…

Elyse says:

I worked with Steve as one of his vendors and was only informed recently of his passing (I had thought he retired by choice). I just wanted to say that Steve was wonderful to work with over the last 9 years! He spoke/emailed about his granddaughter, Wynter, often and I know he loved her dearly. I am so sorry for your loss, Kruse family, and my apologies for being so late to say so.

Excellent customer service, they made you feel like you were their only customer. Very helpful and explained what we should expect during the process. They basically took care of our needs during this time. They contacted DFW National Cemetery for us which made it a smooth experience. Definitely will use them again.
