Leopard, Angela E.
Obituary
Angela Leopard, 88, died July 19th, 2014 at Prestonwood Court amongst good friends. She is now together with her husband Charles Leopard Sr., who passed on the same day 16 years earlier. Angela (Angie), was born October 29th, 1925, in Regensberg, Germany to Anton and Centa Brenner. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Leopard Small and husband, Tim and her son, Charles and his wife Suzanne, grandchildren, Natalie Annemarie, Steven Charles and wife Vinette and great grandson Charles Vincent Leopard. Also, her best friend, Henry, her cat who will miss her daily affection and companionship. Angie met Charles Leopard in Regensburg where he was serving with the U.S. Army. She was not immediately taken with his charm, but he was able to use his connections to get her fired from her job to get her attention and show her he was serious about dating her. He also spent his hard-earned pay to buy nice meats that were not easy to come by at the time and delivered the meats to Angie’s parents to gain favor with them. Eventually, Charles won her over and they were married in Bamberg, Germany, June 5th, 1952 and Angie entered the U.S. in New York in October of 1952. Here in the U.S, they were stationed at many different Army bases before retiring at Fort Hood, Texas. Angie and Charles frequented the officers club at Fort Hood where they enjoyed cocktails and dancing to country music with friends. Angie loved animals and was instrumental in getting the first no-kill shelter started in the Copperas Cove and Killeen area. Neighbors would bring over baby birds that fell out of the nest and she would nurse them back to health. One baby sparrow that came over bald as an eagle became Tweety, their pet for the next 5 years. Angie loved to plant flowers and worked at getting the lawn of the month award. She always enjoyed listening and dancing to good country and western music. Her favorite artists were George Strait and George Jones and Conway Twitty. Angie also enjoyed history and politics and watching FOX news. God Bless Angela’s caregivers and staff at Prestonwood Court Memory Care. My mother was treated with love and respect. Elsie Boateng and Patricia Burton-Goss were at her side the moment she passed which I’m sure gave her comfort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Operation Kindness in remembrance of Angela Leopard www.operationkindness.org
Angela’s brain was donated to U.T. Southwestern for Alzheimer’s research.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Prestonwood Court Memory Care 7001 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093 · (469) 521-7638.

Shirley, I am so sorry for your loss. You have been a wonderful, attentive, and caring daughter. Your mom was so lucky to have you there with her every step of the way making sure she was always well taken care of. I will remember the funny things she told us, and also the way she loved my kids visits. She was a firecracker!
Lots of love from the Justman family
