Plummer, Richard E.

Born on April 6, 1951 in Moorhead, MN to Edwin and Geneva Plummer.  Richard passed away on September 25, 2014 in Dallas, TX from Lewy Body Dementia.

He attended Moorhead State University and went on to a career in outside sales in packaging and paper products.  He retired in 2008 from Landsberg.  Richard spent his life trying to make people happy.

He was happiest when he could make people laugh and knew they were having a good time.  His love of music began as a child and remained something he cherished to the end.  He couldn’t get too much of the music popular in the 60’s and 70’s!

Baseball was one of Richard’s passions every summer.  He played baseball as a child and young man, and remained an avid watcher throughout his life.  Many travels were scheduled around the opportunity to watch a professional game and he made it to many of the stadiums across the U.S.  His love of travel took him and his wife to numerous parts of the country and he made friends with those he met on the way.  Sometimes travel plans were split between what he could see and what new foods he could taste.

Richard knew how to enjoy life and made us all happy to be a part of his.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Plummer. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Dallas, TX; mother, Geneva Plummer of Moorhead, MN; sister, Gail Plummer of Mapleton, ND; brother, Kevin Plummer of Paducah, KY; stepdaughter, Tanya Edwards of Minneapolis, MN; and many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane Farmers Branch, TX 75234.

So sorry to learn of Richard's passing. My Mother was Richard's Dad's Aunt so our families have made many great memories together. Richard was 6 years younger than I and so we always kind of liked the same things - music, etc. He was a wonderful guy and so are his siblings Gail and Kevin but his Mother is a person I truly love and respect. Bless your heart - may God give you strength at this time. I went through losing my spouse in 2001 and God does take care of you - put your faith in Him at this sad time. May memories bring you lots of comfort. Many hugs.

Dear Jean,

Ed & I were so sad to hear about Richard. It has been a long and loving road for the two of you. Whenever we think of Richard we think of baseball and Starbucks.(I never had met anyone who drank 18 cups of java a day!) We remember his ever present smile. It was good to hear he was smiling until the end. May your happy memories always stay with you and we wish you peace.

Richard loved life, his family and his wife Jean and would do anything for them. Words can not describe the many good times spent together. Richard you will always be in my heart. You and dad have made me a better person with your words of wisdom, encouragement and love. Rest in peace and when you get a chance tell dad that I miss him so much.
