Swindal, Eleanor Adele
Obituary
Eleanor Adele Zeigler Swindal: Daughter, Sister, Mother, “La La”, and Friend. Eleanor was Strong, Brave, Selfless, Caring, Gracious, and wholly dedicated to her family, and friends. Mom never met a stranger, and she helped everyone she knew as well as those she didn’t know. We have many wonderful memories of her. She loved us all unconditionally, and just as she loved us, she loved life and lived it to the fullest. Mom was always fixing or taking something or someone somewhere; not because she had to, but because she wanted to. She did more than was ever asked of her, and often times cared more about us than we cared about ourselves.
It is good for all of us to remember who she was, how she loved and what she believed. Our honor is to keep her spirit alive by continuing her good works and by loving everyone the way God loves, the way she loved. We are truly blessed to have known her, and we can be thankful that she was part of our lives. We already miss her tremendously.
Mom was welcomed into heaven by her Mama in time to celebrate her son“Bubba’s” Birthday with him and all her loved ones who have gone before.
A native Texan, Eleanor was born to Pete and Blanche Zeigler on April 30, 1932 in Rock Island, Texas, as the youngest of nine children, and is survived by two loving sisters Edith and Lillian, and her daughter Lori as well as a host of devoted friends and family. As a faithful employee, she retired from Southwestern Bell following 32 years of service. After a difficult two year struggle with Ovarian Cancer, Eleanor passed from this life gently and quietly on October 10, 2014 surrounded by her precious, loving family.
The memorial service celebrating her life will be held at ARIA Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas, and will be officiated by Chaplin Boby Kurian.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society for Ovarian Cancer.

I am so sorry to learn of your Mother’s passing. I will keep you in my prayers. I will miss talking with her.
We’re praying for your comfort, that your memories are more precious and vivid every day.
Isaiah 66:12-13:
“For this is what the LORD says,
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.”
Remembering your wonderful, sweet mama, we feel privileged to have known her! I know you will miss her deeply. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Eleanor was a wonderful woman, I met her several times, and she was a happy beautiful person. I will keep you in my prayers. If you need anything let us know. Are love and prayers are with you.
Lori, I am so sorry about aunt Adele’s passing. Thank you so much for calling me and letting us know. She was always special to me and I will never forget that. You are in our prayers.
Sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. We moved to Rock Island in 1952, I was in the 5/th grade. We were neighbors to Eleanor’s family. We lived in the Pink house across the pasture South of Eleanor’s Mom & Dad, known as the Stokely House. My parents were Walter & Lera Mae Wied. My sisters were Molly & Nancy. I remember your Mom’s Dad (Pete), but do not remember your Grandmother or your Mother. Mr. Pete used to let me Dove hunt in his pasture. May God bless & comfort your family. John Knesek
