Obituary
Roxann Collins-Kinzey of Dallas, Texas passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 one day shy of her 68th birthday. She passed in her husband’s arms surrounded by family and friends ending a seven-year battle with a rare brain disease.
She was born to the late Ben K and Sammie D Collins, November 9, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas. Roxann graduated from Texas Tech and moved to Dallas to begin her career with the Dallas Independent School District. Roxann retired in 2002 following 33 years of teaching.
First United Methodist Church Dallas has been her church home since moving to Dallas. This is also where she met the love of her life, Douglas Kinzey. They were married in the church December 17, 1988.
Roxann is survived by her husband Douglas Kinzey, sister Jeannie Fritts and husband Harold, brother Sam Collins and wife Ruth. She is also survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews, cousins, and family that is referred to as in-love rather than in-law.
A Memorial Service celebrating Roxann’s life will take place Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church Dallas – 1928 Ross Avenue, Dallas, TX 75201. A reception will follow in the church. Parking is available on a surface lot beside the church or in the Bryan Parking Tower diagonally across the street behind the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First United Methodist Church Dallas, Music and Arts Program, 1928 Ross Avenue, Dallas, TX 75201.
