JL Nichols, 69, of Irving, TX passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014. He was born to the late Jewell Stanley Nichols and Lora Lucille Powell-Nichols in Dennison, TX on Feb. 10, 1945. JL proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Patricia Vance in 1970 and together they had two daughters, Christina and Patricia.
He is remembered for his easy going nature and love of fun. His children grew up adventurously learning to walk on stilts, fish, shoot and camp. The neighborhood children anxiously awaited the annual Halloween party he hosted. J L was a child at heart and often said, “You’re only as young as you feel.” JL is survived by his girls Christina, Patricia and Angie; step-children Tressa and David; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings Buddy Nichols and Bobbie Smith; many nieces and nephews; and last but not least, his beloved dog Taz. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Freda Ball, Billie Hoffman, Linda Meek, Dutch Nichols, Roy Gene Nichols, and Donald Bruce Nichols. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on December 23, 2014 at Fundamental Baptist Church, 1119 West Shady Grove Road, Irving, TX 75060.
