Obituary
Betty, 83 years young, of Richardson, TX, went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2014 in her home with her husband of 63 years, Charles Luther Hicks.
Betty was born Betty Jean Harris on July 2, 1931 in Hamilton, TX. Betty and Charles married on April 4, 1951 at the First Baptist Church of Stephenville, TX. They moved to the Dallas-Ft Worth area in 1952 where they had their son, Rev Charles Henry Hicks, on December 2, 1954. Betty was preceded in death by her son on September 29, 2005, her one brother, Henry Carl Harris, and her parents, Rueben and Bettye Adella Harris.
Betty was a kindergarten teacher for 6 years at the Northrich Baptist Church, and since 1971 worked for the Richardson ISD as an Administrative Assistant. She received her Associate Degree of Arts and Science in 1985. Betty retired in 1991 from West Junior High and continued to substitute for RISD for the last 20 years.
Betty and Charles have been members of the First Baptist Church of Richardson, TX since 1969. Pastor Ellis Orozco will introduce Pastors Bill Webb and Gerald Ware, who will join us together to celebrate Betty’s life on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 2pm at the church located at 1001 N Central Expressway in Richardson. The memorial viewing with the family will be held Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 3-5pm at the Aria Funeral Home located at 19310 Preston Road, Dallas TX.
Betty is survived by her husband, two grandsons, John Mark Hicks and his wife, Melissa, Joel Andrew Hicks and daughter-in-law, Marcia Hicks.
