Allen, Danielle W.
Obituary
Our hero, Danielle Wilson Allen, acknowledged the mortality threshold of life on this earth in peace, surrounded by her family and loved ones in her home Saturday evening, the 7th of March, 2015. Danie made defeating cancer a game, winning 5 different times since 1994. She finally succumbed to the cumulative effect on this day, while still remaining the victor, saying “life is good” until the very end. Danie was born on January 25th, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia to her parents Homer Leon and Sara Wilson. She attended Duke University and married Bill Allen with whom she moved to Texas. Danie raised four children, though many others claim her as a second mother, which is indicative of the loving and nurturing way she moved through her days. She loved Colorado, traveling with “the Good Group”, cooking, eating big meals with people she loved, wine, good movies, all books, exercise, and above all, her friends and family. Danie proudly leaves behind her children; Dale McMichael, Jeffrey Allen (Dana), Sara Blakely (Denny Dale “Cletus”), and David Allen (Maura), her grandchildren; Meredith Jones (Ryan), Claire Higgins, Teal Allen and Ella Allen and her brother Hank Wilson. She is excited to be reunited with her husband, Bill Allen and her sister, Sally Wilson. Danie wanted to join Bill by having her ashes spread at McCullough Gulch in CO. She was insistent that we throw a party (and clean up afterwards). Come celebrate her amazing life with us at Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, Texas, 75234 on Friday, March 13th at 12 noon. Danie loved flowers, but she loved progress and helping others much more. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to any of these three organizations that Danie held close to her heart: The ALS Association Gift Processing Center PO Box 6051 Albert Lea, MN 56007 www.alsa.org
