Time flew by fast but he’s here with us in spirt♡He would want us to cherish all the moments we had with him not dwell over them. He was an amazing dad! And I will miss him VERY much. I love you guys so much and I’m here for you. We will get through this together. Me and my dad always said “I love you the moon and back.”
Jimmy has been on my mind since my son Darren called me this morning to give me this sad news. Our family moved next door to the Villalta’s in 1974. Jimmy was a great kid…a good friend to Darren who was his age and also to Darren’s younger brother, Brandon. My condolences to Ed and Mary Ellen and the whole family.
Jim, You will always be loved and very missed. You were and always will be a awesome dad. You created a beautiful and strong daughter who has so many of traits in her. I promise I will raise your daughter with your guidance from above, and keep your memory alive. Rest in peace.
I remember all the St. Cloud youth hockey with the Villaltas (Jimmy & Tommy) growing up and the great Apollo-Tech rivalry. Jimmy, you were such a hard worker with an infectious smile- I’ll never forget that.
My sincere condolences
Rest in peace Jimmy, thanks for the memories – you will be missed.
Mike & Jodi
Jim, we all miss you beyond words. I will always remember you as a smiling and loving father, uncle, son and brother. You were always endlessly patient and fun-loving. I cherish all of the fun vacations we all had together as a family (Mexico, the cruise and most recently Disneyworld). You have such a beautiful, smart little girl, and we will be there for her always. -Courtney Villalta
You could never be forgotten Jimmy, you were one of a kind. God Bless.
I will miss Uncle Jim a lot. I will miss his omelets and his smile. (and the tilt-a-whirl I went on that one time with Rylee, but I started screaming and got let off.) I love and miss you Uncle Jim.-Rachel 🙂
Rest in peace Jim. May God bless your family during this time.
Jimmy V you were a great friend and always a positive soul. I’m thankful we became friends and I’ll cheerish those young HS years together. The world truly lost a great soul and person. Until we meet again my friend, peace to you
Dear Mary Ellen, Ed and family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Cherish your memories and Jim will live on in your hearts forever!
Rest in Peace James (aka Jimmy). You will be missed. I will always remember you. God Bless your daughter and all of your family.
Very few people amass as many friends without collecting a single enemy along the way. I love you like a brother and miss you deeply.
Smiling Jimmy V- I know we haven’t seen each other in a while but when I think back on high school, you are in many of my good memories. We skated on the same line our Senior year and sat next to each other a lot on our bus rides. I cherish the times when we would go to the movies and get our dates in for free. Haha. I will miss you and always consider you my brother.
Our nephew, Jim was a gentle spirit and much loved. We love the memory of Jim and his brother staying with us for hockey camp. We miss you, Jim and will be praying for you and your family.
I had the privilege of being Jimmy’s classmate at SJU. It was always a pleasure to see Jimmy around campus. I remember his big smile, good stories, and hearty laugh. He was “a local” so he always provided the story behind the story. Jimmy brought smiles to a lot of people. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
Rest in peace Jimmy! You will be missed!
“Jimmy” stories will always be shared by all of us Joe Boys who grow up together with Jimmy. I have tons of great memories growing up with Jimmy. Rest in Peace Fellow Joe Boy!
Chad
Our condolences to your entire family. Linda K. informed me(Becky)today about Jimmy. I passed the news on to my parents and older brother Adam. I didn’t know Jimmy all that well, but like other people have said, he was a “Joe-Kid” and we Joe-Kids stick together. I remember Lisa babysitting my brothers & I. Gerry, Jackie, Adam, Becky & Jonathan have your family in our thoughts & prayers. Once a neighbor, always a neighbor! Peace & God Bless! -The Klaphake Family

Dear Mary Ellen, Ed & family, I am so sad to learn of Jimmy’s death. My heart breaks for you. I have so many wonderful memories of our families sharing fun times. Just recently Joni & I were looking at pictures of our kids together. You are all in my prayers.
I am so saddened by this news. Jimmy, Lisa and Tommy were so close to my sisters, my brother and I all through our childhood. Along with their wonderful parents we all spent years growing up together in our neighborhood and making wonderful memories. Growing up across the street from them was a god send I’m sure for our moms since we would play for hours on end with each other. Jimmy, I am so sad you left this world so young. You will be missed. I hope the entire Villalta family can find the strength to get through this. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Jim. Our son, Todd, called with the news. They spent many days together throughout their school years. Jim was never seen without that big smile and his friendly demeanor. It was always enjoyable to have him around. Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time.
My condolences to all of Jimmy’s family. Jimmy V was my roommate at SJU for two years and provided all of us with good times and great memories.
My sincere condolences to the Villalta. Jim was a great friend at SJU and we will keep you all in our hearts and prayers.
RIP
Ed, so sorry to hear about your loss. You have our deepest sympathies.
MaryEllen and Ed. I offer you my condolences and prayers. You are a great family and were wonderful neighbors to both of my St Joe families the Froehles and the Schirmers.
Thinking about Jimmy makes me smile. A very real person with lots of love. I will keep him in my heart forever.
Sending love to all he touched,
Amy

Jimmy V, the last time we met was quick in passing, but I now regret not taking the time to catch up and ask the important questions! You will forever be missed but will look forward to catching up with you in the next life. Brian
Approximately 1982 I had the the pleasure of watching over Jimmy, Tom & Lisa for a week while Ed & MaryEllen traveled to Ireland. Jimmy was a delightful cute & comical kid. The week’s schedule of activities included hockey practice, hockey games, and more hockey (in the days when arenas were very cold). On the one day the sched was open Jimmy announced ‘today’s my microwave cooking class!!! I was not happy the day we had to drive to the ball field to find Jimmy, only to be late for church.
There was a lot of playing outside in the snow that followed s blizzard; followed by a trip w Jimmy to the ER for a couple minor stitches in his forehead which resulted from the neighbors garage at the bottom of the small sledding hill.
I was very impressed with the interaction of the 3 Villalta kids and the energy they had. After 7 days with them grandma & grandpa arrived for the remainder of Ed & Lisa’s vacation. Jimmy walked into the kitchen and spotted the stuffed peppers and acclaimed, FINALLY something good to eat! Jim was good at making people laugh! He was quite the character & I thought of him often as I raised two sons who also played hockey, a daughter, and a schedule full of kid activities
Glad to have known you Jim
Mary Ellen, Ed and family,
You have my deepest sympathy. Take comfort in your fond memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Mary Ellen & Ed, we were saddened to hear of Jim’s death. So many memories of hockey days and days spent with friends. We hope your cherished memories will help. May he rest in peace.
Dear Ed and Mary Ellen,

I just found this news from Internet and can’t believe that you are just gone like that. You gave me a wonderful memories. I am glad to meet you as a good friend. You will always live in my heart, my friend.
Throughout these past few years I find myself still coming back to read these. I think they help remind me of some of my own memories with you. Everyday I think about you and all the things that I wish I could tell you. I just finished my first semester at the University of Minnesota, I know that you would be proud of me. I’ve even gone to some of the Gopher hockey games. I miss you more than words can express. Im extremely grateful that you’ll always be a part of me.
