Bryant, Ronald D.

July 27, 1948 –
 March 14, 2015

Obituary

Ronald Dale Bryant died peacefully on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 in Plano, Texas.  He was born on July 27th, 1948 in Huntsville, Alabama to Roy Lee and Evelyn Henrietta Bryant who preceded him in death, as did his sister Connie Loretta Bryant and brother Harold Dean Bryant.  He is survived by his loving wife and faithful companion Norene (Nikki) Prokop-Bryant, his son Ross David Bryant and daughter-in-law Christy Bryant, daughter Lisa Prokop and partner Bill Noda, stepson Keith Prokop and wife Avril and his brother Dwight Bryant.  He was blessed with two granddaughters Rebecca and Reese Bryant who lovingly called him Poppy.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to eat, laugh and tell stories. Ron was a 1966 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.  He completed his undergraduate degree at UT-Arlington where he joined Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity.  He then went on to earn his master’s degree in Business Administration at Amberton University.   Ron has been a friend of Bill W. for over 30 years.  He was an avid Cowboy fan and he loved and still owned his 1998 Dodge Caravan.  At his tailgating parties Ron was  known as “The Delagator.”  Some of Ron’s guilty pleasures  were bacon, peanut butter, chicken Alfredo, Double Stuffed Oreos, Nutter Butter cookies and canned Vienna sausages on crackers.  He had a life-long insatiable appetite for pinto beans and corn bread.  Ron found humor in every situation.  It was his way to cope with life. Whatever it was, he managed to get through it by laughing at it and himself and getting you to laugh, too.  He had a ready joke for every occasion, reason and season.   He was the life of the party.  As per Ron’s wishes, his brain and scalp tissue were donated to the University of Michigan for use in furthering Alzheimer’s research. We invite you to join us in celebrating Ron’s life on  Saturday, April 11th, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. at Chase Oaks Church, 281 Legacy Drive, Plano, TX 75023 in the Legacy Room.  If desired, contributions may be made to the University of Michigan Health System (Giving Link: http://victors.us/RonBryant) or charity of your choice.  It is suggested that you don’t wear somber colors because Ron was a colorful, happy-go-lucky guy. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700 BRYANT1BRYANT2

I met Ronald when we went to East Dallas Baptist Church. Our families went on a trip to Alabama to visit relatives. Then we worked together at A&P for years. Then we carpooled to UTA and took classes together. He taught me how to drive a standard on his Falcon. I still drive standards and taught my kids. We used to bowl, shoot pool and pinball on our way home from Arlington. He was a good friend and a good guy. I am sorry for your loss and he will be missed.

Dear Bella sister, Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us, unseen, unheard, but always near; what we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us. Ron will continue to transmit his humor – let your heart be open to hear. Love.Peace

My Ronnie Donnie, Time is supposed to heal all wounds, but it’s not working. I miss you every day. I go into your closet to smell your clothes or I wear your cologne. These last few weeks have been especially hard. I can’t get thru the day without crying. You left me too soon. We weren’t finished. We didn’t have a chance to live out our dreams. I miss you. I love you so much!

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
