Carruth, Hallie Vontell
Obituary
Hallie Vontell Alexander Carruth was born on January 7, 1925 to Grover Franklin Alexander and Hallie Frank Alexander in Burkburnett, Texas. As a Dust Bowl child, she grew up near Pampa, Texas with her father worked in the petroleum industry. On a blind date to the Pampa Rodeo, she met Canara Grayson Carruth in 1943. They married in April of 1946 after he returned as a decorated Marine from the Pacific arena in World War II. They struggled to establish a family, losing two children early and an additional third child, Jerry Von. Thomas Franklin was born in 1952. In 1965, they adopted a daughter, Misty Dawn. Vontell, known as ‘Big Mama’ or ‘Tell’ to many, is survived by her brother, John Crocket Alexander, 96 of Garland, Texas, her husband, Canara, aged 91, of Irving, Texas and two children; Misty Dawn Curtiss and husband, Jay Lain Curtiss of Dallas, Texas plus Thomas Franklin Carruth and spouse Robert Thurman Krueger of Altadena, California. They have 4 grandchildren (Michael Angelo Bo Carruth age 33, Ashley Jennette Robin White age 30, Roy Grayson White age 29 and Stephanie Dawn Curtiss age 15) , 7 great grandchildren, numerous great nephews and nieces plus many ‘adopted’ children from their church and family. Together, Vontell and Canara established a loving family environment that enveloped many friends, neighbors and church members who crossed their paths. They would have celebrated their 69th Anniversary on April 28th. Our creative, vivacious, feisty and funny Wife, Momma, Mom and Nana will live on with us through memories as she touched so many around her. A celebration of Vontell’s life will be held at the Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home, 1820 N. Beltline Road, Irving, Texas 75061, on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at 7:30 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of: Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home 1820 N. Belt Line Road Irving, Texas 75061

She is in Gods loving arms and a peace. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of this very special lady. God Bless
I met Vontell July 9, 2010. I was her roommate for 3 days after my double knee replacement surgery. After clearance from my doctor to drive again, the first place I went was to visit Vontell.
I have grown to love Vontell and Canara as family over the past almost 5 years.
I miss my weekly visits with her, her beautiful smile and lovely wit.
Until we meet again.
blessing, Hugs & lots of Love, Yvonne
My thoughts and prayers to all the family during this difficult time. I grew up with Misty and knew her mom and dad. She was always so polite to me.
I’m writing this note for Vontell’s obituary on the occasion of receiving the news of Canara’s passing. There were no more precious people on the Earth to Lee and me than Canara and Vontell. Lee and I loved them with the love of much older siblings. They were faithful to the Lord in every respect, being kind, generous, and warm-hearted. Perhaps it’s poignant that now they are together, again; now, no longer to die.
