Kennedy, Renee A.

Born on July 21, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away on Apri 28, 2015 in Dallas, Texas.

Renee was a loyal and loving wife and mother to Bob and Patrick, and she inspired many with her courage and strength in the face of disabling MS.

Renee graduated from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, South Carolina and went on to the University of South Carolina in Columbia, graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering and membership in the Engineering Honor Society.  She began her career with DHEC in the state government in Columbia.  Three years later, she accepted a job with the EPA based in Dallas, bringing her husband Bob back home. She worked for many years with the EPA before retiring on disability.

Renee stayed as active as possible by swimming laps at the YWCA and being involved in the Equest therapeutic riding program.  She and Bob traveled as much as possible, making many trips to Vancouver, doing an Alaska cruise, riding Amtrak to California, spending Christmas in Germany and Spain, and making a wonderful trip to Israel.  Renee loved to bake, and even when she lost the ability to do so, she would instruct our nurse’s aide, housekeeper and anyone else on how to do it.

Renee’s pride and joy was her son Patrick.  He was truly a miracle baby.  Renee was told never to get pregnant because she would not survive, but she delivered Patrick with no problem other than being 7 weeks early.  Her happiest day was when Patrick was born. Her scariest moment was when Bob took her down two thousand steps in a wheelchair in East Jerusalem after an intifada bomb explosion.

Renee is survived by her husband Bob, son Patrick, brothers Ed and Matt Green, father in law Howard Kennedy, brothers in law Randy Kennedy and Brian Boyle, sister in law Laura Boyle, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins on both sides of the family.

Renee’s memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 3 at 2:30PM at First Presbyterian Church in Dallas.

Memorials may be made to Faith Hospice, First Presbyterian Foundation or any no kill animal shelter.

We grieve your passing, but know that you are free of a broken body and dancing with the Angels.
