Morrison, Catherine A.
Obituary
Born on February 4, 1909 in Middleport, Ohio, to Mary Densmore Thomas and Harry Stanton Thomas. She died on June 2, 2015 in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 106. Our beloved Mamoo is now in heaven after a wonderful life. Throughout her life, she had memories of the sinking of the Titanic, the introduction of the automobile, Lindberg’s crossing of the Atlantic, the stock market crash of 1929, Pearl Harbor, and man’s first landing on the moon. She was married to Robert Knox Morrison Sr., who predeceased her in 1962. She spent her adult life in Niles, Ohio where she worked for the General Electric Company for 45 years, retiring in 1974. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Niles. She moved to Dallas in 2005. She was a member and picked the name of the Joy Class at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. Catherine is survived by her three children: Linda Sue Jennings and husband Rex, Robert Knox Morrison, Jr. and wife Marty, and Thomas William Morrison; grandchildren: Robert Knox Morrison III and wife Blair, Robin Sue Martz and husband David, Nicholas Rex Jennings, Jr., Christopher Erin Morrison and wife Camille, and Catherine Anne Pate and husband Matthew; great grandchildren: Spencer Thomas Morrison, Catherine Kegan Martz, Payton Grace Morrison, Presley Sue Pate, Caroline Elizabeth Martz, Ryder Knox Morrison, George Matthew Pate, Samuel Jennings Pate, and Dominic D. Morrison. She is also survived by her niece, Caroline Melnykovich and husband George, and by her nephews William Densmore Thomas and Richard Edward Thomas and wife, April. Nothing thrilled Mamoo more than being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. For 60 years, she spent every summer at the family home on Lake Temagami in Ontario, Canada, together with her family. There was much laughter, wonderful meals, and big fires in the fireplace on cool Canadian evenings. Mamoo always had her special work “projects” to occupy everyone’s day in lieu of napping or fishing. She was also a big time supporter of the University of Michigan football team, where her son, Bobby, coached. She went to many games, including bowl games all over the country. On January 1, 1998, she was at the Rose Bowl when Michigan won the National Championship in football. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 10:00am at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Ellis Chapel, with reception to follow the service. There will also be a service in Niles, Ohio on June 27, where she will be buried along side her husband.
