Haberman, Julie Ann
Obituary
Julie Ann Haberman (1952-2015) Julie Ann Haberman, 62, passed away in Dallas, TX on June 5, 2015. She was born on July 15, 1952 in Geneva, Nebraska to John and Opal Haberman. She spent most of her youth in Fairbury, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school and attended community college. In 1976, Julie moved to Corpus Christi, TX, where she trained to be a nurse. Afterward, she moved to Dallas, TX, to work as an RN at St. Paul’s Hospital. Julie spent her career in the healthcare field, both as an RN and in management positions with various healthcare companies. Co-workers, physicians and patients regularly spoke of her excellence as a nurse. Her intelligence and creativity were also shown in her inventions, including MenuMate®, one of the first illuminated optical readers for restaurant goers. Julie’s unique and lovable spirit touched many people – family, friends and co-workers. She had the ability to draw people to her and form life-long friendships, some greater than 50 years. She not only had many friends, but also encouraged and developed circles of friends by planning and hosting events that brought people together. Strangers became friends, resulting in strong bonds and loyalty that have grown through the years. Her greatest pride was in her daughters, Brittany Mason-Mah and Jordan Mason. Friends and family see Julie’s traits in both daughters: integrity, intelligence, dedication, a sense of humor, a love of travel and fun, and a great warmth of spirit. Julie was beautiful and elegant – both externally and internally. In addition, she had courage and a strong will to live, as witnessed by many that had the pleasure of caring for her. Her strength and dignity during her struggle with cancer was an inspiration to all. Julie Haberman is preceded in death by her parents, John and Opal Haberman of Fairbury, NE, her grandparents, Henry and Mollie Haberman and James and Margaret Marshall, and her sister-in-law, Cindy Haberman. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Brittany Mason-Mah and Colby Mah and Jordan Mason and Louis Toms, all of Dallas; her brother Jim Haberman of Forreston, TX; her sister Nancy Dunning and brother-in-law Wayne Dunning of Dallas; four nieces: Jennifer Jackson of Maypearl, TX, Amy Thompson of Maypearl, TX, Katie Haberman of Forreston and Maggie Haberman of Forreston; two aunts; several cousins; and numerous friends. Services will held on June 25, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX 75234. Following the service, family and friends are invited to an End of Life Celebration which will be held at Ashton Gardens, 2001 Ashton Gardens Lane, Corinth, TX. Dear Jim and Nancy,
We are so sorry to hear about Julie. Although we did know she was not doing well, it was still a sad day when we heard . I am happy that she is now at peace and smiling down on all of you with that wonderful smile she always had. I’m sure John and Opal were waiting with open arms and there is a great famiy reunion. God bless your family and know that our prayers are with all of you.
Prayers for the entire family.
My sincere thoughts and prayers to all of Julie’s family and friends. We lost our daughter, Nicki to the side effects of her treatment for cervical cancer. God Bless each and every one!
Dear Jim and Family and Nancy and Family and wonderful Brittany and JOrdan….I am so very sorry to hear about Julie. She was a grand Lady, I am honored to have gotten to know you all (not in Fairbury, but in Big D!!). Julie will be missed by many. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. XO MKN and Family
Jim and Nancy and families, I was shocked and saddened to learn of Julie Ann’s passing. Since we all grew up together, I have many great memories of all of you. We played hide and seek, kick the can and ghost at midnight, to name a few. Jim and Rusell Boeckner would always scare us and they would laugh like crazy! How many times did we sled down F Street from your house all the way down to the library, then trudge up the hill, dragging our sleds to your house, just to do it again? I also remember how Julie, Nancy, my sister, Patty, and I would play on your front porch. Among tea parties and other fun things, Julie was always playing nurse and we were her patients. It’s no surprise to discover how her future turned out! God blessed her with many talents and a loving, caring, happy nature that affected all those whom she encountered. Every time I go by “your” house,I am reminded of our childhood and even high school days. Thank you for sharing it all with me! My deepest sympathies to you and yours, and to Julie’s family. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I know Julie Ann is with your mom and dad in Heaven!–Lots of love to each of you, Linda Ann!
I am heartbroken to learn that Juli is gone. We worked together at NTHN & Pinnacle Anesthesia. She was a mentor to me & I cherished her advice @ friendship. I know she is looking down & watching over her family. I will miss her dearly.
