Was born in Connecticut and raised in Louisville, KY and Portsmouth, Ohio. Duane was a member of the US Army. Although Duane entered into this world as a Connecticut Yankee he was a Texas Cowboy. He was a Master Stone Mason and his work is throughout Texas. Duane L. Smith is survived by his soulmate, Katrina H. Smith; father, Preston Smith; sons, Duane Smith Jr. and his wife, Helen , and Jason Smith and his wife, Dacie; daughters, Courtney Carson and Nakisha Skidmore; grandmother, Ruby “Sweetie” Love; sister, Rhonda Beckwith and Shelly James and brother-in-law Roosevelt; brother, Stephen Giles; sister cousin, Debbie and Dawn; aunts, Dorothy and Janet; 8 grandkids; numerous nieces and nephews; and host of other family, and friends. Duane was preceded by his mother, Loretta Smith; brother, Preston “Spanky” Smith Jr.; cousin brother, Randall “Randy” Smith and loving aunt, Sarah “Boobo” Smith. A Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday June 25, 2015 at Aria Funeral Home, 10116 E. Northwest Highway Dallas, TX 75238, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Apostle Johnson, officiating.
