Words escape me to express our sympathy for your loss. Robert will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. I have many wonderful memories of times shared through the years. Our family is blessed to have him as an angel watching over us from above!

As a friend and best mentor, Bob provided a great influence on my own professional growth. He was the exemplary architectural professional – having all the correct mix of architectural design capacity, deft social skills and business acumen, a solid and deep understanding of the ethical, professional and legal dimensions of practice, and was a constant source of inspiration for those around him. I will always miss, but am so glad to have known him.

We are very sad for your loss. Although we have never met face to face, we feel a special connection with you both. With our deepest sympathy your family is in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Mr. H.

I will miss Bob’s wisdom and wit. I often quote one of Bob’s sayings “In Texas you get one free Kill—you can always say the first one was a hunting accident”. He was one of the most ethical architects that I have ever worked with. I learned a lot about the architectural practice, how to detail and how to complete architectural projects. That training has stood me well from passing the architectural exam and throughout my career. It has led me to work on many interesting and varied projects. The knowledge gained from Bob guides me to this day.

I always enjoyed coming to work at his office with the interesting projects and beautifully detailed cabinets that filled the office. His willingness to bring new technology into the practice was invigorating. He and Helen made the office feel like home. I did not fully appreciate at the time what a special place his office was until after I left and worked in many less hospitable firms.

Through the years when I came back to Texas I would always make a point to visit him bringing my family to meet this Texas Icon. I also enjoyed meeting for dinner with Bob and Helen over the years and learning about his daughter and her family. I am a better person and architect for having known Bob.

Rest in peace and only sweet Dreams.

Bob is gone. It’s always a shock when someone who has been important to you passes away, and even more shocking to think about that person and realize how much you thought of them. And then…it settles in that he’s gone, and a huge silence fills that space and no words will come that are adequate for the feelings. Just a silent void. I miss Bob the person. I miss Bob – the professional that he was. But the memories will stay, his smile, his laughter, his way of enjoying the people he was with, his enthusiasm for a new project. We’ll keep him in our hearts.
