Miller, Polly Elizabeth
Obituary
Polly Elizabeth Miller August 1st, 1951 – June 26th, 2015 It is with sorrow that the Pittman and Miller Families announce the passing of beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, Polly Elizabeth Miller of Dallas. Ms. Miller was born in the summer of 1951 in El Dorado, Kansas, where she attended El Dorado High School and moved on to study music and voice at Wichita State University. A beautiful and talented woman, Polly competed in the 1971 Miss Kansas pageant, representing El Dorado. During her adult life, Polly worked in the hotel industry and as a volunteer coordinator in Washington, Oklahoma, Florida, and North Carolina but spent most of her time in Dallas, where she was particularly active in helping the homeless. A consummate people person, Polly enjoyed talking with anyone and had a knack for making everyone feel like they were the center of attention. She cherished her son, Mason (age 39, of Austin), along with her daughter-in-law, Amanda (37), and her grandson, Davis (6). She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her second grandson, due in September. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde “Jack” Pittman of Richardson. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Pittman of Richardson and three brothers: Perry (of Clovis, California), Patrick (of Dallas), and Page Pittman (of Palm Harbor, Florida). Ms. Miller will be honored at a memorial service to be held in the Upper Room (Room 362; above Cox Chapel) of Highland Park United Methodist Church (3300 Mockingbird Lane) in Dallas at 1 PM on Saturday, July 25th. A reception will immediately follow at the home of Shirley Pittman, Polly’s mother, at 504 Thompson Drive, Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages anyone interested to donate to the charity of their choice in her name but suggest donating to Family Gateway (www.familygateway.org), an organization that assists homeless families in the Dallas area. Polly worked for them as a volunteer coordinator. Arrangements are under the direction of: ARIA Cremation Service & Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700

Dear Shirley and family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Polly’s passing. I remember her to be a very vibrant and caring person. Her obituary described her very well. I know she will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. May your memories bring you comfort at this time of sorrow. Sending you our love. Jan and Steve Jones
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Melanie
Many memories of school with Polly that surround music
and singing with her in choir. She always had a smile for
everyone. So proud to here of her work with less fortunate.
May God bless you all with sweet memories.
My earliest memory of Polly is participating in her PEP club (which she emphasized stood for Polly Elizabeth Pittman) out in her front lawn on the Central Street home in El Dorado. She won my heart then. I loved her enthusiasm, energy, and love of life. My most sincere sympathies go out to the entire Pittman family…along with very much love.
Lots of memories of her at school in choir. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
So sad to hear about Polly! My condolences to the family. I have many fond memories of Polly through Junior High and High School. I have thought of her often through the years especially when looking at the photos from our debate experience together. She was so tall and I was so short but we sure had a great time together! Wish I could be there to celebrate her life! Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!

So many happy childhood memories with Polly. I am so very saddened to hear of her passing.
Dear Shirley and family, I’m so sorry to read of Polly’s death. I remember her as an exuberant young woman. My most heartfelt condolences to all of you. God bless.
i was so sorry to just now hear about Polly’s passing. I have so many good memories of her during our high school years, church activities, music and so many other times together. I wish her family well, especially Shirley, who was one of my my piano teachers and bell choir director – I spent hours in their home. My sympathy goes out to them all.
I was shocked to hear of Polly’s passing. I worked with Polly in the hotel industry as again when she transfered to one of hotels in Miami. She will be missed
Shirley, I’m so sorry to hear about Polly. We were such good friends when we were little and I have lovely memories of spending lots of time at your house. God bless and keep you all. I’ll be praying for you.
I have been trying to connect with Polly for years but was unable. I am so saddened to hear of her passing. Our husbands were in the military together and we were very good friends. I have a few pictures if you’d like to have them
