Kenneth Lee Castro passed peacefully from this life Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the age of 66 years of age, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family during the last days of his life. Kenneth was born in Dallas, Texas on June 8, 1949. Before retirement, he was a long distance truck driver and he was an International Union Organizer for AFSCME in the Texas area. On his many travels one of the cities he fell in love with was New Orleans, La. While in New Orleans his favorite place to visit was the Café du Monde, where he would enjoy a cup of coffee and beignet. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends. He also enjoyed listening and dancing to country western music. He was a friend and father to all of his nephews and nieces and one of their favorite past times was playing “Monopoly”. He will be greatly missed by all.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his father Julian Frank Castro and mother Malina Rhea Castro; brothers: Ralph Castro and Richard Castro. He is survived by his brothers: Jimmy Castro, Phillip Castro, Charles Castro and sister Linda Arriaga; Nephews: Ralph Castro, Donald Castro, Phillip Castro Jr., Demetric Castro, and Jose Arriaga; Nieces: Diane Mendoza, Debra Castro, Cynthia Ponce, Linda Castillo, Janet Castro, Mary Jo Aleman, Jennifer Castro Robles, Vanessa Hernandez, Melissa Romo and Adelaide Arriaga.
The family will receive friends for viewing at noon to 1pm. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 1pm on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Aria Funeral Home, 1820 N. Belt Line Rd., Irving, Texas 75061.
