Lamazares, Ana Maria

Ana Maria Lamazares, 52, passed away after an 18-year courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 06, 2015 in Carrollton, Texas, and was surrounded with love and adoration by her beloved family. Ana was born to Humberto and Nerida Lamazares on January 18, 1963 in Havana, Cuba. She is survived by her daughter Jessica Marie Emmons and future son-in-law Peter Edwin Slocombe; parents Humberto and Nerida Lamazares; brother Humberto Pablo Lamazares; sister Silvia Maria Lamazares Brozak and her brother-in-law Daniel Edward Brozak; niece Emmy Alyse Brozak; uncle and aunt Santiago and Caridad Lamazares; numerous cousins; and a very dear extended family member Maria Diaz Ritchie.

Ana graduated 4th in her class out of 435 students from Newman Smith High School in 1981; she was a member of the National Honor Society and was affiliated with the NSHS Troyanns Drill Team. After graduating with high honors, she went off to study at the University of Texas at Arlington.

She was passionate and supportive of the arts, with a fondness for Impressionistic paintings, sculptures and dance. Ana was a devout Catholic, and found that Mary Immaculate Catholic Church was her home away from home. She enjoyed going to daily mass with her adoring mother, Nerida, discovering motivating, religious literature, and she cherished the rosary group in which she made lifelong friends.

Ana was a selfless, kind and loving individual, who would go out of her way to help others in need. She was a nurturing mother, a devoted daughter, a caring sister, a fun aunt and a wonderful friend. Her daughter, Jessica, was her life, and she did everything in her ability to make her daughter’s dreams come to fruition. Ana was adored by many and was a true inspiration to all the lives she touched.

A celebration of the life and legacy of Ana will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Pkwy. Farmers Branch, TX on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015. Father Zachary Webb, Celebrant. 9:30am recitation of the Rosary, 10:00am Mass. Interment to follow at the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church Columbarium. Reception held at the Parish Hall.

I just heard. I had no idea.

One of the sweetest girls I ever knew.

My heart goes out to Mr and Mrs Lamazares, my dear friend and Classmate Humberto, and to Silvia (who is maybe too young to remember me)
