Obituary

Ron Rossetti – known as “The Green Dragon” to his fellow runners and “Gigi” to his grandchildren – crossed the finish line of his amazing life’s marathon on Thursday, October 15, 2015. His neon green running gear has been retired. Born Ronald Guido Rossetti, Jr., he was only 53 years old when he finished the race. Those cheering most loudly for Ron and his greatest fans include his spouse, Sarah Collins; his four children, Anastasia Rossetti Macaluso, Alexandra Rossetti, Nicholas Rossetti and Aaron Rossetti; his mother Joan Rossetti; his sisters Julie Cloud, Susan Lyden, and Shelly Delfraino; and four grandchildren, Faolan, Sionn, Shea and Finn Macaluso. He was admired and respected by his nephew and niece, Tommy and Victoria Lyden, and Sarah’s children, Rachael and Michael Branum. Ron’s father, Ronald Rossetti Sr., was waiting to welcome his son across the finish line, having gone ahead of Ron in 2000. His early years were spent in scenic northeast Ohio where Ron discovered his love for long-distance running and his professional calling as an attorney. Ron worked for Ohio-based Nationwide Insurance for 29 years, holding leadership positions in Claims, Underwriting and Trial Division.  Ron loved Nationwide and was very proud of the company.  During his tenure there, Ron served in multiple capacities, embracing servant leadership as a God-given responsibility in every role. Prior to his most recent assignment as Associate Vice President in Nationwide’s Trial Division, Ron served as Vice President of Field Claims, Texas Claims Officer and then as Texas Underwriting Product Officer.  Before moving to Texas in 2002, Ron served in Nationwide’s Home Office in Columbus, Ohio as Compliance & Legal Officer.  Ron’s other assignments included State Claims Counsel for Pennsylvania Operations; State Claims Counsel for Ohio Operations; and Regional Claims Attorney for Ohio Operations.  Earlier in his career, from 1989 to 1994, Ron was a Trial Attorney in Ohio, practicing at different times in Dayton, Youngstown and Akron for Nationwide. In 2001, Ron was diagnosed with cancer and proceeded to fight back against the disease through philanthropic means. He participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life every year, and in 2012 founded AngelsFallUp, a non-profit entity that raises funds to support cancer research and preventative education. Fighting cancer by instilling hope became Ron’s life mission. He shared these thoughts with a friend: After cancer, you see the world with a new perspective. You face your own mortality.  You imagine your family and friends without you.  You realize this life is just a blip on the radar tracking man’s march through time.  …[Y]ou think about whatever time remains and, at least for me, you appreciate the present more and recognize every day for the gift it is. You wonder too, about your legacy.  It derives not from what we want but from what we do.  It is about others. And for me it is a simple thing: Create Hope. My aspiration is to help victims of serious illness see there is hope always.  Hope is a decision, not a prescription or condition.  Some come through a life-threatening calamity in peace, others in pieces.  Hope is the first step, without which there can be no peace. Ron will be honored in a private Celebration of Life event on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015. Friends, associates, and the community are invited to join family members on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at 10 a.m. to honor Ron during the awards ceremony of The Colony Half Marathon, for which Ron was the race director. The Colony Half Marathon and awards ceremony will take place at Stewart Creek Park, 3700 Sparks Road, The Colony, Texas 75056. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to make a gift to AngelsFallUp. Checks payable to AngelsFallUp can be sent c/o The Colony Roadrunners to 6413 Stewart Blvd, The Colony, Texas 75056. These donations and gifts will be added to the proceeds from AngelsFallUp’s principal fundraising event, The Colony Half Marathon to be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2015     Please send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site. Arrangements are under the direction of: Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home 1820 N. Belt Line Road Irving, Texas 75061 972-607-4400

Dear Anastaia, Alexandra, Nicholas and Aaron: I worked with your father in the early 1990’s in Dayton, Ohio. I knew Anastasia and Alexandra as little children. He was a good man and a good lawyer. I enjoyed working with him and considered him a good friend. Although our lives took different paths I always thought fondly of him and admired him. I am sorry he was taken from you at such a young age. I know how much you will miss him. I was privileged to have known him well if only for just a short time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. "Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
