Hefner, Gene T.
Obituary
Gene Taylor Hefner was born November 20, 1933 in Ennis, Texas and died October 24, 2015 in Dallas, after a battle with cancer and a brief related illness. Gene was preceded in death by his warm and caring wife of 55 years, Patricia. They had a full life together, traveling and entertaining, and were constant companions until her untimely death in April 2015 of complications due to dementia. After graduating from UT in Austin, Gene was in the construction business all his life, first working for TXI and then forming his own companies: Hefner Construction, General Concrete and the GTH Company. He took all of his construction projects personally and provided great care with the Park Cities residents in which he was involved as general contractor later in life. Gene and Patricia were members at St. Michael & All Angels in Dallas. As life’s complications would have it, the family was preparing to have a private ceremony for Patricia earlier in the summer; however, Gene’s health deteriorated and the ceremony was unfortunately postponed. For that reason, the family will honor both Patricia and Gene at the memorial service, where they will be laid to rest together at the DFW National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy.) on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM. They were survived by daughter, Stephanie Zwillenberg and husband Bernard, son Stephen Hefner and wife Michelle; grandchildren Jackson and Hudson Hefner, and Julia and Caroline Zwillenberg, as well as many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family has set up for donations in both names at St. Michael’s. Arrangements are under the direction of: ARIA Cremation Service & Funeral Home 10116 E.
