Obituary

On Saturday, December 5, 2015 the Lord called home Judith Anne Rains Glover.  Judith was born in Zwolle, Louisiana and a graduate of Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. After an eleven month battle with Pancreatic Cancer, she left this world in peace surrounded by her family.  Judith embodied what it meant to be a southern woman.  She was gentile, kind, gracious and always a symbol of class and sophistication.  She had many accomplishments from her education and career, but her biggest legacy is her family.  To know her was to know her family and to know her family was to know her.  She was present, accessible and always showed up.  Far and wide she was known as Mother, Mom, Nana, Aunt Judy and friend.  She sparkled in more ways than one from her clothes and jewelry to her sparkling eyes, smile and personality. She dazzled everyone she touched.   When asked by her family to describe her the response was; beautiful, loving, hilarious, devoted, tough, resilient, stubborn, fun, compassionate, loved to laugh, generous, caring, unapologetically her, always ready for ice cream, never wanted to miss anything, loved bling, loved to travel, more than a grandmother…a best friend, always dressed to the nines, a perfect angel, a gift,  accepting and supportive, very trustful in God, a woman of deep faith and a wonderful mother.  Her grandchildren always had a couch to sleep on and a ride no matter how far or last minute.  She did absolutely everything she could for her grandchildren and she encouraged all of their endeavors.  She was like a starburst, a walking contradiction.  She was a picture of unconditional love and care for everyone around her.  She never told jokes, but always made you laugh.  To sum it all up, she was a woman with lovable flaws and utterly beautiful strengths. She was love personified and she was deeply loved by all. She was preceded in death by; her parents Joseph Jackson Rains and Willie Mae Bowman Rains, her siblings Billie Jo Rains, Bobby Rains, Elaine Rains Grace and Hanson Grace, and niece and nephew Janis Grace Cooksey Cain and Russell Cooksey. She is survived by; daughters Karla Glover Baldelli and Jill Glover Lucien vanEgmond, son-in laws Dale Baldelli and Jack vanEgmond, grandchildren Bryce Lucien, Roman Baldelli, Bailey Lucien, Alaina Lucien, Rafe Baldelli, Kendal vanEgmond and Scott vanEgmond, niece and nephews Sharon Rains Waddell, The Honorable Bobby Waddell, Joe Grace and Neman Cain, great nieces and nephews Matt Cooksey, Maren Owens Cooksey, Mauri Cooksey, The Honorable Erin Leigh Waddell Garrett, Greg Garrett, Beaux Waddell and Amanda Waddell, great great nieces and nephews Stone Cooksey, Piper Cooksey, Addilynn Waddell, John Robert Waddell, Parker Cooksey, Auden Garrett, Granger Garrett and Riggs Garrett.  Your legacy will live on Mother, Mom, Nana and Aunt Judy!  We will miss you and you will always be in our hearts!! A celebration of her life will be held at 3pm Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Prestonwood Baptist Church Faith Chapel, 6801 W. Park Blvd. in Plano, TX, reception immediately following at the family home in North Dallas. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700

I only knew of this lovely woman through her daughter Karla Glover Baldelli, my dear, long time friend whom I can say truly embodies all of the same wonderful characteristics of her beautiful and beloved mother. My deep condolences to Karla and her sons and to all of Judy’s family and loved ones. What a joy it must have been to have been raised by and loved by this lovely and sparkling lady! May the peace of our Lord be with you all as you adjust to your world without her. She will be with you always in spirit and waiting to greet you all one glorious day, on the other side.

Judy was one of the sweetest and lovely women I have ever had the privilege to know. I felt like she was part of my family (or maybe I should say she made me feel like I was a part of hers.) My heartfelt condolences to the entire family. What a blessing she was to all of you.

Judy was my classmate all through school at Zwolle. She was always beautiful and always a friend. Can you stand a funny little story about her? She said as a child she thought her name was “Judy Than,” and thought “Than” was such a strange middle name! May God be with all of her family through this sad time.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
