McArthur, Gordon Patrick

Gordon Patrick McArthur went to his heavenly home on December 12, 2015, in Plano, Texas with his family by his side.

Gordon was born on April 2, 1957, in Dallas to James and Rosemary McArthur. Gordon and his family lived in Richardson, TX where he attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School, West Junior High, and Richardson High School. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Building Construction in 1979. He met his best friend, Jayne, in 1981 and they married in 1983. Gordon worked for various Dallas commercial builders including McFadden & Miller, Rogers-O’Brien Construction, The Beck Group, and most recently worked as the Vice President/Preconstruction Director at JE Dunn Construction.

Gordon is preceded in death by his father, James McArthur. He is survived by his wife, Jayne McArthur; three daughters and their spouses, Dana and Louis Palacios, Kara and Trevor McWilliams, and Macy and Benjamin Wiese; and 2 grandchildren, Carter and Carrie Palacios. He is also survived by his mother, Rosemary McArthur; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and David Hawkins; nephews, Shaun (Carrie) Hawkins, James May, and Sean Payne; his sister-in-law, Susie, and her husband, Kent Lashley, and their three children Adrienne (John) Harr, Kent (Amanda) Lashley, and Kristen (Jason) Knapp, along with many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was known for his generous and sweet soul to many lifelong friends. Gordon loved spending time with his family and enjoyed being “Papa” to his grandbabies. He was a fast car lover, some of his notable vehicles being his 1968 Corvette, his 1979 Datsun 280Z, and most recently, his Jaguar XK. He was a dog lover and leaves behind the latest addition to his family, “Murphy.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 19th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Prestoncrest Church of Christ, 6022 Preston Crest Lane, Dallas, TX 75230.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,” at or a charity of choice.
