October 20, 1943 - December 16, 2015
John Roger (Jack) Hagberg departed this life Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at the age of 72 in Plano, Texas. He was born October 20, 1943, to Glenn and Elsa (Newman) Hagberg in Morrison, Illinois. He was a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, he attended the School of Physical Therapy at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was a physical therapist in the U.S. Army in 1969-1970 at Fort Lee, Virginia and Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. He practiced physical therapy in the cities of Freeport, Illinois, Ottawa, Illinois, Paris, Illinois, and Newport, Arkansas, where they resided for 28 years. His last 7 years of retirement were spent in Carrollton, Texas. At a very young age he knew he wanted to become a physical therapist and looked forward to going to work each day.
John was united in marriage on August 12, 1967, to Nancy (Chapman) Hagberg whom he met at Luther College. Together they raised 2 children and enjoyed playing golf and card games. He promoted the Jackson County Community Concert Association and numerous golf tournaments. Church was an important part of his life, as was singing in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Bill and Margaret Chapman. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 48 years; daughter, Kristen (Rodney) Bullard, step-grandchildren, Taylor and Dawson Bullard of Celina, Texas; son, Matthew of Carrollton, Texas; sister, Sandra Garrison (Jan Lilly) of Hopewell, New Jersey; niece, Cindy (Brian) Simione, great nieces, Emily Simione, Olivia Simione, and Abigail Simione of Millville, New Jersey; and nephew, Scott Garrison of Westminster, Colorado.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. and a reception after the service. All to be held at the First United Methodist Church, Newport, Arkansas.

What a wonderful, long-time friend, neighbor and therapist. We'll certainly miss our visits with him even though sometimes they were years apart. So glad to see you all in November. Thinking and praying for each of you.
