Obituary
Cherry Juanita Chisholm Nichols, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015, in Plano, Texas. A memorial service to honor Cherry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the ARIA Funeral Home Memorial Chapel located at 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75252. A family burial service will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Veteran’s Cemetery with military honors, alongside her husband, Herman “Nick” Nichols, a veteran of World War II. Cherry was born November 24, 1924, the youngest of six children, to Cherokee Rose Couch Chisholm and William Edward Chisholm in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Cherry was married to her high school sweetheart, Herman Earl Nichols, Jr. After World War II, they settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma to raise their family. Cherry was a cradle Episcopalian and a member of St. John Episcopal Church in Tulsa, singing in the choir and a very active member of the Altar Guild. They retired and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to be close to their children and grand-children. Cherry and Herman moved to Shreveport from Arkansas in 1992 and were members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral. In 2005 they relocated to Plano, Texas. Cherry was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Earl Nichols, Jr., her parents, her siblings; William E. Chisholm, Jr., Milton Lorvin Chisholm, Virginia A. Chisholm Heard, Donald Burr Chisholm and Mary Louise Chisholm Blackstock. Cherry was a beloved mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughter, Diane Muse and her husband, Don, her son, Robert Nichols and his wife, Pam, of Shreveport, five grandchildren; Darcey Nichols Pavlick and her husband, Kevin, of Shreveport, Jennifer Witcher Rivard and her husband, Morris, of Ventura, California, Brad Nichols and his wife, Michaelann, of Shreveport, Mandy Nichols Main and her husband, Clayton, of Dallas, Texas and Christine Nichols Youdale and her husband, Robert, of London, England; 12 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Robert, Katelyn and Mason Pavlick, Leia and Olivia Rivard, Tyler and Michaelann Nichols, Brooks and Ryder Main and George and Henry Youdale.
