Hopkins, George W.
Obituary
George William Hopkins, age 79, of Irving, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2016. He was born November 28, 1936 in Anderson, IN. George lived in Indiana until the last three decades of his life, during which he lived in Irving. George enjoyed entertaining people as a clown, a magician, a face painter, and as Santa Claus. He is remembered by his friends as being unfailingly generous with his time and energy in helping others. Even after retiring from his work at UT Southwestern Hospital, he helped children by working as a school crossing guard for the City of Irving. Neighbors remember seeing George walking his dog, Shadow, often. Those who didn’t know George by name remember him as “the man with the little black dog”. George was preceded in death by his father, Arvil, his mother, Naomi, and his son, Chris. George is survived by his loving wife, Marti, of Irving, his children and step-children: La Quieta Beth (and her husband, Bob) of Anderson, IN, Beth (and her husband, Peter) of San Jose, CA, and Brad of Irving, and by George’s grandchildren, Tommy and Rebecca. In lieu of flowers, Marti requests George be remembered through a memorial gift to the American Diabetes Association. Please send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site. So sorry to hear of George’s passing. Those who knew Hopper will never forget his laughter and generous of his time. Bump a Nose in Heaven with Hubba Hubba
Memories are the legacy of love.
My condolence to your family.
We will never forget how much fun George and Marti made our children’s Birthday parties when they were dressed as clowns. We also enjoyed him as Santa Claus that came to Grandma’s house! George was a self-less, loving man. I was honored to have to know him.
We will always have fond memiories of kind and gentle George. He was a good friend to have, the kind that would rather give you a quarter than cheat you out of a dime. We will greatly miss you, George. You’ve left us with a missing part in our lives.
So sorry for your loss. May God give you all comfort at this time. God has gained a wonderful man. He will be greatly missed. Loved working with him on the clown gigs.
I loved Hopper to the sky! He was kind, generous, funny, fun and loved to share his magic! I will miss him and hope to see him again some day.
Marti we are both saddened to hear of George’s passing. He was a wonderful man as well as a very talented and giving entertainer. Our prayers are with you. Hugs.
Tho our footsteps no longer fall on the same path, I warmly look back on the time when our journeys came together. You will be missed George!
