Obituary

Morris Wayne  ”Moe” Blaylock went home to be with his Lord on January 20th 2016 at 8:30 pm.  He was admitted to Baylor hospital in downtown Dallas where he died from complications due to a stroke.  He took his last breath in the arms of his wife while surrounded by his brother and beloved friends.   He was 72 years old.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Van, Lavon, Gentry and Ronnie.  He is survived by his wife Luella, Brothers Robert and Jerry Ray (JR) and his sister Vivian Finn. Morris was born in Alfalfa Center, Mississippi County, Missouri on June 26th 1943.  He was one of seven siblings born to Mary Daisy and George Blaylock, and referred to by his brothers as  ”the good son”!   Life as the son of sharecroppers meant moving a lot, in excess of 15 times prior to entering high school in Hayti, a small town in the boot heel of Missouri.  A quiet but very friendly young man, his high school years were spent running track and country roads.  Also known for his good looks, his classmate Judy said she didn’t know anyone who didn’t like him. Shortly after graduation, Morris packed a brown paper sack with some clothes and headed for big city life in Chicago.  Brother Gentry gave him a temporary roof and a couch, and a reference for a job with the railroad.  Two years later Morris would begin his 50 plus year career in graphic arts within the exhibit industry.  He crafted his skill, took on leadership roles and earned the respect of his peers and superiors.  As his friend Tom said,   “when Moe told me I made something that looked good I knew I had done it right.” Morris married the love of his life on May 3rd 1974.  City Hall did the honors on that day, but on their 25th anniversary Morris and Luella pledged their lives and their love to their heavenly Father in a renewal of vows ceremony.  They grew a family of brothers and sisters in Christ, many of whom today would say they were blessed to know him.  Numerous children passed through their home in their 41 years of marriage…..children of the four legged feline variety!  He laughed, but agreed, when once told “Forget the quiche, real men love cats”! Apart from his friends and family, his greatest loves in life included all animals, motorcycles, motorcycle road trips, and bacon!  Not necessarily in that order! But it was his gentle and caring side that made him who he was.  Never craving recognition, humble in his heart, and always there for those who needed him, sometimes to a fault.  He was passionate about his country, loved easily and was quick to forgive.  He will be missed. Memorial service to be held Monday, February 1st at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, 4141 International Parkway, Carrollton TX 75007 at 11:30. Flowers, if any, to be sent to 1707 Willow Rd, Carrollton TX 75006 prior to the service.  In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to East West Ministries at eastwest.org Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700

“Mo” you will never be forgotten, your handiwork about our home remains a testament to your artistic , creative endeavors. The memories or all the ” get- togethers”, a joyful memorial to help ease the tears of your passing. R.I.P surrounded by all those furry critters that waited your arrival at the “rainbow” bridge when God called you. Kate

I was in shock when I got the news. Moe was one of the good guys who, even when it got tough going at work, kept his cool and got it done. He was “real” and just a fine man to know. He will be sorely missed.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
