Obituary
Winnie Shorter West was born September, 20, 1931 in Gainesville, Texas to Raymond and Mary Shorter and passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 in McKinney, Texas. She attended Dallas public schools and graduated from North Dallas High School. In 1949 she married Phillip West and accompanied him to Texas A & M University until they returned to Dallas in 1954 to raise their family. She was a homemaker, enjoyed monthly bridge club and cooking. As an accomplished seamstress, she loved to do alterations, sewed for numerous weddings, and many Lake Highlands High School drill team and band uniforms. She lived in Houston from 1988 to 2003, and moved to Kermit, Texas until 2011. She lived her last four years in McKinney and Allen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mary Shorter and her brother, Eldon Shorter. Gone from our home but not from our hearts, Winnie is survived by her sister, Betty Bewley and brother, Raymond Shorter; husband, Phillip West; their sons Michael West and Raymond West; daughter Nancy West Robertson and her husband Randy Robertson, and daughter Robin West Low and her husband Richard Low; granddaughters Kara Robertson Starnes, Morgan West Garza, Casey West Baudoin, and Michelle West Buscemi; grandsons Brian West, Matthew Low, and Alex Low; 9 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.
