Obituary
John Lee Truelove, 69, of Plano, TX., formerly of Gainesville, GA., died on Jan. 3, 2016 from heart disease with diabetes as a contributing factor. John was born to James W. Truelove and Henrietta Lawson Truelove on Jan. 26, 1946. He served in the U.S. Air Force from July 11, 1968 to June 7, 1974 where he broke the barrier of sound in a T-38 A Talon and, in Vietnam, flew a C-123. He was awarded the Air Medal in 1971 for meritorious action in a combat zone. After his service, he taught mathematics at Lanier Tech in Oakwood for almost a decade, advising the formation of the school’s 1980 Yearbook while there. For the past 30-plus years, he had a career working with computers. He is survived by wife: Mary Truelove of Michigan; sons and daughters-in-law John Todd and Michelle Truelove of Alto, Robert Grady and Patricia Truelove of Oakwood, Andrew Locke and Laura Truelove of Buford; brothers and sisters-in-law James and Nancy Truelove of Gainesville, and Henry and Phyllis Truelove of Cleveland, GA.; sister and brother-in-law Deborah and Joe Caldwell of Gainesville, GA. Also, grandchildren Savannah, Calvin, Summer, Ava, Alex, Josh and Ashley; nieces Tara, Lindsey, Kristen, Betsy, Mandy; and nephew Daniel. John also is survived by former wives Diane Locke Dorsey and Melody Combs. A private burial and inurnment service with the family was held on Jan. 26, 2016 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton where he received military honors from the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
