Obituary
Marion Loretta Elrod passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the C.C. Young Memorial Home in Dallas. She was born on February 26, 1923 in New York City, NY, where she graduated high school and worked, during one period as a “Rosie the Riveter,” until she married Jack Cook Elrod on August 13, 1946. They shared nearly 38 years together, primarily in Tyler and Austin. She worked for the Austin Independent School District and was a devoted mother, homemaker, and community volunteer. She loved her family very much. She is survived by her two sons and daughter; James Michael Elrod of Austin, John Raymond Elrod & wife Roxana Elrod of Dallas, and Pamela Elrod Huffman & husband Richard Keith Huffman of Dallas; one brother, Donald Richard MacNaughton of Lynbrook, NY; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Raymond William MacNaughton & Loretta Bernadette MacNaughton, and her brother, Raymond William MacNaughton, Jr. A memorial service will be held at C.C. Young’s Lawther Point East Chapel in on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 11 am. The family would like to thank all of the staff at C.C. Young for their skill and heartfelt compassion.
