Yazbeck, Louis Renet

November 10, 1927 - April 27, 2016



Louis Renet Yazbeck passed away on April 27, 2016 at the age of 88 years.  Born in Shreveport, LA on November 10, 1927, he attended Byrd High School and Centenary College in Shreveport.  Drafted into the Army in 1946, he was released a month later after accepting a principal appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy.

After returning to civilian status, he continued his studies at Centenary College, graduating with a BA in English in 1948.  At Centenary he served as managing editor of the school newspaper, was a member of The Laurel Society (later to become a chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa) and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Also while a student at Centenary, Louis met and married Lynn Davies in 1948.

Upon graduation from Centenary, Louis went to work for Standard Oil Company.  He was commissioned as an Ensign in the Naval Reserve in 1950 and called to active duty in 1951, serving in the Aleutian Islands and San Francisco Naval Shipyard from 1951 to 1954.

Louis was released from the Navy as a Lieutenant in 1954, moved to Dallas with Lynn and attended SMU from 1954 through 1956 doing post-graduate work, primarily in accounting and finance.  He obtained his CPA certificate in 1957 and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1960.

Louis and Lynn moved to Richardson, Texas in 1955.  He worked at Collins Radio/Rockwell International from 1957 to 1983, holding positions as an accounting manager and division controller.  After retirement from Rockwell, Louis engaged in one of his favorite endeavors – securities trading as a broker with Webber, Hall, Sale & Associates and then with Southwest Securities.

Louis was a long time, involved member of the Church of the Holy Communion in Dallas.  He was an avid runner, proudly achieving a total of 25,000 miles between 1976 and 2005.

Louis was preceded in death by his father Tony and his mother Florence, his sister Adelaide, his brother Joe, his son Gary and his daughter Cindy Sheehan.  He is survived by Lynn, his wife of 67 years;  sister Diane May Collins of Shreveport; son Randy and Randy’s wife Pam; Gary’s widow Debi Yazbeck Harter; grandchildren Russell, Rachel, Derek, Shannon Collum and her husband Jason, Patrick Sheehan, Tyge Sheehan, Evan Sheehan, and Austin Shubnell; great-grandchildren Jadon Collum, Lucy Collum, Kayleigh Yazbeck and Kenzie Yazbeck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Church of the Holy Communion, 17405 Muirfield Drive, Dallas, Texas  75287 on Friday, May 6th at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.  Memorials may be made to the Church of the Holy Communion.
