Obituary
Greaves, Kathryn – Kathy Greaves passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7 near her son’s home in Dallas. Born Kathryn Allene Finley in Enid Oklahoma, Kathy grew up in Wichita, KS and graduated from East High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned a B.S. in Education and was an active Kappa Alpha Theta, serving as the chapter’s Social Chair and Vice President, and later as a member of the State Panhellenic Committee of Oklahoma. Upon graduation in 1957, she married Harry B. Greaves Jr. and taught elementary and middle school math and science in Rolla, MO and Miami, FL before settling in El Paso in 1970 where she continued her education career teaching at St. Clements Episcopal Parish School, Radford School and as a home-bound teacher for the EPISD. Kathy was also an active community volunteer serving on the Board of Women’s Committees of both the Oklahoma City Symphony and the El Paso Symphony Orchestra; and as one of the founding families of St. Francis on the Hill Episcopal Church she served on the Altar Guild. Kathy was proud of her memberships in the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and PEO. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Jane Piper Finley and Cyrus Leland Finley; brother Cyrus Leland Finley, Jr.; and husband of 54 years, Harry B. Greaves, Jr. Kathy is survived by her sister, Janie Duffield and her husband Cliff of Leawood, KS; her son Christopher, daughter-in-law Cynthia and grandsons Austin and Harrison of Poway, CA; her son Loren and daughter-in-law Carolyn and granddaughters Emily and Rebecca of Dallas, TX. The family is deeply grateful to the staffs of Caruth Haven Court and Hospice Plus in Dallas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 4PM at St. Francis Anglican Church, 470 Eagle Dr., El Paso, TX 79912. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any remembrances be directed to St. Francis Anglican Church or to the Solve ME/CFS Initiative, 5455 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 806, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

To the family and friends of this dear lady, please accept my heartfelt condolences. The words lovely and gracious come to mind when I think of her. She and ‘Red’ we’re good friends of my parents in El Paso, and they have such nice memories of both of them.
