November 3, 1935 - April 29, 2022
Betty Joyce Farrell Pelt, 86, went on to Glory early in the morning on April 29th, 2022.
She was born to J.C. and Georgia Farrell on November 3rd, 1935. A daughter of Oak Cliff, she followed her handsome older brother, John Farrell, through Peabody, Greiner, and Sunset where she was a majorette known for her dancing skills. It was there that she met the love of her life, Eddie Pelt. They were married in 1956, and they still danced to “Blueberry Hill” in our living room when my sister and I were kids. They were married almost 60 years when he passed.
She was also a life-long member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church. A devout Christian, she followed the true teachings of Jesus. She always rooted for the underdog, she voted for Jesse Jackson when he ran for president, and she was touching AIDS victims long before Princess Diana. While going through her things, I found a plaque honoring her “service, loyalty, and dedication” to AIDS Services of Dallas. She also dedicated many years to Cliff Temple Baptist Church’s community Care Center.
She loved animals, gardening, reading, watching sports, chocolate, potatoes, Jesus, and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and his wife, Elnora Farrell, her husband, and her daughter, Georgia Pelt Polk. She is survived by her son, David Pelt of Dallas, her granddaughter, Amanda Polk of Austin, her son-in-law, Rodgell Polk of Ft. Worth, her nephew, Curt Farrell, and his son, Justin Farrell, her niece, Tammy Farrell Alexander and her husband, Michael Alexander of Rociada, NM, and her children George Shannon, Kevin Shannon, Thomas McKean, and John McKean, her nephew, Rick Trevino, and Godson John Paul Gibson, and her beloved puppy, Bandita, all of whom will miss her terribly. She was an inspiration and example to us all.

She was such a beautiful woman, very elegant! Although I wasn’t around her often when I was she always left a beautiful impression on me! I will forever be grateful she gave us her son David who I have known since we were 7!! RIP Mrs. Pelt, we all loved you and will forever carry warm thoughts and memories of you!

What a lovely tribute to a wonderful and kind person. So much I didn’t know about her! Sending you all hugs and much love.
David, what a beautifully befitting tribute to your mother. I was always struck by her sophisticated style and grace. It was clear you got a lot of your talents from her. You have been an amazingly loyal and loving son, brother, uncle and I pray for comfort and peace for you and Amanda. 💜
David, what a beautifully befitting tribute to your mother. I loved her sophisticated style and grace; it was clear you got a lot of your talents from her. She was the perfect model of loving care and she taught you well, as you have done the same for her. May you and Amanda be comforted and be at peace. 💜
I met your Mother when we both were attending Park Cities Baptist Church. I sat next to her in a ladies class and asked her name and where she was from. I was astonishing when she said she was a long time Cliff Temple member. I am too! I said.
We quickly became friends and soon found ourselves attending Cliff Temple again. I always felt that was a divine meeting. In the short time I knew her she blessed my life. Blessing to you and your family during these days.
I love that story, mother would too!
I was in Sunday School with Betty for many years at Cliff Temple.
