I met Ragan while we were both in the Army Corps of Engineers, 493rd Engineer Group. A consummate professional, mild mannered quiet sense of humor and always with a smile. Quite the gentleman. My heartfelt condolences to his family and many many friends. May the good memories of this fine human being comfort you in the days ahead. Command Sergeant Major Wes Peterson
Sorry I could not attend not attend Reagan’s service. I am in Budapest, Hungary working with Habitat for Humanity remodeling Soviet era flats/apartments.
I worked with Ragan in the Superfund Division at EPA. He was such a mild mannered man. So quick to smile. Had a great sense of humor. Was always there to offer support. I will miss him!
I knew Ragan at UT. Always a fun guy, a loyal guy and a man of substance. He will be missed.
Ragan was my first supervisor at EPA and he taught me so very much. It’s difficult to put into words all that he did to make EPA and the people who worked with him better. He is loved and admired by many.
I’m so deeply sorry for your loss my condolences to you and your family
Ragan was the best boss I ever worked for at EPA. He listened to his staff and got all the facts before making a decision. My deepest sympathies are with you. Mary Kemp
Missy & Peggy I’m so sorry for your loss. I will continue to lift you both up. Hugs & love, Laurie
My husband loved his brother Reagan. He was very helpful when Clifford, my husband died. I will always be grateful for his kind helpfulness. My husband at this present time is too ill and I won’t be able to attend the service. But I will always love my connection to him and the Broyles family.
Ragan was family to me growing up. He taught me how to make French toast and to always extend a helping hand when needed. Great man and dearly loved by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
We could not have asked for a better neighbor! Ragan was always kind and thoughtful. He was a good man..
Prayers and sympathy
I had the privilege to work with Ragan at EPA, too. A very kind man. My condolences to his family. I know he will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you. Robie
I worked with Ragan for several years at EPA. I found Ragan to be a consummate professional in all our dealings, He was always ready to help and so appreciative of the work I did for him. He was a true gentlemen and respectful of women in the workforce before it became a political issue. I enjoyed working with him and am sorry he was taken from his family so soon.
many fond memories from our time with troop 636 and with ragan rest in peace you will be missed

I was very sorry to hear of Ragan’s passing. We first met at EPA in 1980, and he was always a hard-working, positive, good-natured, friendly, and helpful person. I think he exemplified what it means to be a true and sound public servant.
My heartfelt condolences on your loss. Retired disabled in Florida I could not attend his service. He was a wonderful supervisor. And I’d like to share two of my favorite memories of him.
When I was working at the Hudson Oil Refinery Site, Ragan visited me. We had planned to make a Tetraethly-Lead building entry together, nicknamed Tetraethly-Death. After experiencing my first severe MS attack that morning, I couldn’t go. I was supposed to support Ragan through a scary event. Instead, he supported me.
I drew Ragan’s name for Secret Santa the year he did a Branch Chief swap. This was the year of the BP Oil spill. And I had Santa give gifts along with this appropriated poem below, to show how much he was missed.
Love, Rita
= = = =
‘Twas months before Hurricane Season; Regardless of Sam
not an OSC was stirring, not even Adams;
IMT plans were coordinated by Crossland with care,
In fear that another Katrina, soon would be there;
The OSCs were nestled all snug in their roles,
While visions of a another disaster, left great tolls;
When during an OSC meeting, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my stupor to see what was the matter.
When, what to my wondering ear should I hear,
But Ragan Broyles, yelling, see ya, I’m clear.
With a little nod, so lively it must be a trick,
I knew in a moment, he’s leaving us quick.
More rapid than eagles his reasons they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now, Zehner! now, Hayes! now, McAteer and Ruhl!
On, Rhotenberry! on Bernier! on, Foster and Smith!
To the back of the room! to the end of the hall!
Now run away! run away! run away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So across the agency Ragan he flew,
With the OSCs in shock, and Petersen too.
I’ve known or worked with Reagan for decades at EPA. He was a leader that emergency response colleagues , managers and executives looked to for calm decisive decisions in often unpredictable emergency response actions. We all miss the man, his demeanor, and his smile.
Ragan was a great friend and colleague. I am saddened at our loss as Ragan was a person who strives to make the world a better place. My deepest sympathies.
