Obituary

Cathy Easley Morgan of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. God called her home after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Cathy was born in Manhattan, KS, on June 27, 1959, to loving parents Robert and Betty Easley. She was the middle of three daughters and grew up mostly in St. Louis, MO. In her youth she had passions for horseback riding and water skiing. She loved riding her horse Charger at the Easley family farm and water skiing with friends at Lake of the Ozarks. Cathy attended William Woods University in Fulton, MO, where she met and fell in love with George Morgan III, the love of her life and husband of 40 years. Cathy was the sweetheart of George’s fraternity and loved by all she met. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and graduated with Honors in 1981, with a BS in Marketing. Cathy and George married three weeks after college and lived in Monroe, LA, Chapel Hill, NC and Charlotte, NC, before settling in Dallas in 1994. They built life-long friendships at each stop along the way. Cathy earned her MBA and worked in marketing until the birth of their first child in 1987, after which she focused her energy on raising their family and supporting her community. Cathy and George bought a second home in the North Carolina mountains in 2007 and enjoyed priceless seasons there with friends and family over the last 15 years. Cathy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She filled those in her life with her infectious warmth, love, and laughter. She was a member of numerous clubs and charitable organizations and drove a weekly Meals on Wheels route for 18 years before cancer struck. She loved playing bridge and golf with her friends. Most of all she found joy in spending time with and caring for loved ones. Cathy and George have been members of Highland Park United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class for nearly thirty years. She continuously grew her faith in God throughout her life. Cathy is survived by her husband George; their children George and his wife Kelsey, Rebecca Rogers and her husband William, and youngest daughter Sarah; her sisters Robyn Tuttle and Stacy Sontheimer; and her grandchildren George and Josie. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 7 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Cathy’s honor to either Highland Park United Methodist Church (https://www.hpumc.org/give) or VNA Meals on Wheels (donation link).

I had the privilege of being with Cathy in a Bible study for a couple of years and was inspired by her gentle spirit and grace filled heart. She had that beautiful, engaging smile too! I know she will be greatly missed by all here on earth but is rejoicing now with her Savior. Much love and prayers.

Thinking of you, the wonderful Morgan family so much, and praying that you can celebrate this incredible life. A gorgeous orchid leaving us physically too soon, but the beautiful spirit of Cathy will inspire so many for a very long time.

As her Uncle, I’ve known Cathy all her life. She was one when I visited her folks in Manhattan, KS. This gives me a unique perspective on this very special lady. Since she was little, she has always been a positive force in our family and her love and energy was boundless. Coming to visit us in Reston when she was 12 was a real pleasure and fond memory. Coming to her daughter’s wedding last November was amazing to see her dealing with life to the fullest. She still had that glow. She will always be special in our hearts.

Cathy lived next door to me, we were childhood best friends. I loved spending time at her house, with her family. Mrs. Easley made the best fluffer nutter sandwiches. Cathy loved going with our family to the lake and staying on our houseboat. She will be missed dearly.

It is always with sadness and a heavy heart when someone we love goes to the gates of heaven. Cathy was a beautiful light on this earth. Her smile says it all…kind, loving, inspiring to all so fortunate to cross her path. She will be missed, but we will carry the memories in our hearts. With love and prayers. One of her Choi Omega sisters.

    Warmest regards,

    Gracemarie

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
