Dessie Caro was born on August 11, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, TX. to Harry & Sudie (nee: Pilgrim) Osmon. She was born again into the family of our Lord as a young child through the waters of Holy Baptism (Titus 3:5-7).
As a young child, Dessie grew up in Mt. Pleasant and attended the public Schools. She married Odell Arp at the young age of 13 and gave birth to their first child – of seven children — when she was 15 years old. She loved her family and children deeply. Later in life she married her second husband Oscar Caro.
She was working when the family opened a French Café in the Town North Mall during the 1960’s and she later worked as in retail sales/Customer Services with numerous Department Store companies. She retired from K-Mart corporation.
She was a Girl Scout Leader, involved in the PTA and loved to volunteer work at Bullock Elementary School. She loved to cook and bake and authored a family recipe book which attributed recipes to many different people and even grandchildren – who were too young to cook or bake. She also loved to do crafts and to be with family. She loved watching Westerns and Christmas movies.
In recent year Dessie’s health began to decline especially in the last decade when she was diagnosis with Parkinson’s and Congestive Heart Failure. In the last years she was cared for by her youngest daughter, Liz. After recently hospitalization, Dessie was placed on hospice and early in the morning of December 26, 2021, she succumbed to Congestive Heart Failure and grasp the hand of angels and was escorted to the side of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her children: Lloyd, Floyd, Cathy and Liz; numerous grandchildren, great-children and one great-great-grand-daughter. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Odell and Oscar, children: Charles, David, and James.
