Fred Arthur Kunz

Fred Arthur Kunz, Sr. passed away on November 18, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. He fought bravely over the last year-and-a-half, many times surprising family and others with his resilience and will to overcome the challenges he faced. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He joined the U. S. Coast Guard in 1968 and was stationed throughout the United States. His favorite station was Kodiak, Alaska where he loved the salmon fishing and outdoor life he found there. He spent twenty years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1988. He then spent many years in the roofing business as a sales representative, traveling throughout the state of Texas until 2019. Fred is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Karen, daughter Joyce Atchley, son Fred Arthur Kunz, Jr., and grandchildren Lauren and Jonathan Atchley and Hadley Kunz.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on December 11, 2021, from 2-5 PM at the home of Fred and Leslie Kunz, 2627 CR 643, Nevada, Texas, 75173.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Fund in memory of CWO Fred A Kunz, Ret, North Glebe Rd, Suite 220, Arlington, VA 22201.
