July 24, 1949 - October 16, 2021
Janet Marie (Rohloff) Thornburg, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2021. Born July 24, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas, she lived in Herington, Kansas, Kansas City, Missouri, Altoona, Iowa, Lexington, Nebraska, and Plano, Texas. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1970 and worked as a registered nurse for 45 years until retiring from Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 2015. Janet was a loving wife for 51 years, a devoted mother, and proud grandmother. She had a kind heart and was a friend to many. She took great pride in helping others and loved working as a nurse. There is no doubt she will be deeply missed. Some cherished family memories include her time as Girl Scout leader, birthday cake baker, and learning to love rollercoasters at age 65. She had a love of all things Christmas including a collection of Santa Claus figures, Radko glass ornaments, and our Coca-Cola polar bear, “Guardbear,” who stood guard next to the tree and presents each year.
She is survived by her husband, Jon, her children, Tony, Kara (Rand), and Kelli (Mack), her beloved grandchildren, Shelbe, Jake, Piper, Jack, Lydia, Nathan, Claire, Owen, Henry, and Nicholas, her brothers, Roy (Marcia) and Greg (Judy) and many extended family members. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Freda Rohloff.
Services will be held at 11:00 am October 30, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1801 W. Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75075.

Jon, Tony, Kara and Kelli!
I worked with Janet @ BCBSTX. She was so optimistic and positive. Always an advocate for doing the right thing, wether for the company or the provider or the patient.
I respected her so much. And enjoyed all the lunches we shared.
Jonathan and I pray for God’s loving arms surround you in peace!
Jon, your memories for you and the kids will last, of a wife and mother who loved her husband and children & grandchildren and who served her community as a great care-giver. What a cherished and great legacy.
Love you,
Larry and Sandi

So sorry for this great loss. So many fun memories of Janet that we all spent together over the years. The cruise, the mystery western dress up party at your house, Womens retreat at Texoma, floating down the Como river, being out at the lake, the Winery and so much more. She loved life and it loved her. Love and God’s comfort to the family,
Cathy & Dave
