Carl “Coach” Lindstrom passed away on August 22, 2014 in Plano, TX. He was 95. Born in Wolverine, Michigan, he lived most of his life in the Detroit area until moving to Plano, TX when he was 93. In 1979 he was inducted into the Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame and the same year was selected as a coach in Colorado Springs for the 1980 Olympic Gold Medal winning “Miracle on Ice” Men’s hockey team.

Many thanks to Carl for his dedication and sevice to Detroit youth hockey. I was lucky enough to play for him on the Redwings For’um Club in the Detroit Recreational League. Because of his spirit I continued to play senior hockey until age 45, and coached in Royal Oak Youth Hockey for over 15 years. I’m sure that I echo all my former teamates who were touched by him, including my linemate, Mike Turner, who himself has gone on to be one of the most successful high school coaches of all time with Trenton High School. RIP Mr Lindstrom
I love you, Grandpa. I’m lucky to have known you and am so happy that you and Grandma are finally reunited.
I will miss you always.
Love,
Queen Bee
