Obituary
Betsy (Elizabeth Jordan Manning) Daniels was born on Sept 29, 1939, in Chattanooga, TN, to Earl and Blanche Manning. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Richard Daniels of Dallas, TX, Daughter Katy Ryan of Atlanta, GA, Son Tim and Margaret Ryan of Sanford, NC, Son Dr. Matt and Alex Ryan of Dallas, TX, Six grandchildren: Ava, Tristan, August, Rowan, Dana and Ella. Two sisters, Mrs Laurie Ramsay of Mount Vernon, TX, Mrs Sally Manning of Dallas, TX, and one brother Mr. Walter Manning of Dallas, TX and many loving nieces and nephews. Betsy graduated from Bronxville Sr School in 1957. She attended Bucknell University and The University of Oklahoma where she received her BA Degree and was a member of Phi Beta Phi Sorority. She attended Tulane University and later earned her Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas. Betsy taught school in Las Vegas, NV and Dallas TX. Betsy was a very avid walker, enjoyed card games, watching her Texas Rangers and Oklahoma football. Betsy looked forward to trips to East Texas and their country home. She was well known for baking her homemade Cranberry Walnut muffins. Her very favorite activities were daily walks in NorthPark Mall and being around her beloved grandchildren. Betsy was a member of the Church of the Incarnation, Dallas for 35 years. She was active in teaching children’s classes and the Propers Class. She enjoyed making prayer shawls, working with the church Habitat for Humanity team, and preparing meals, visiting, and serving with the Aids Ministry groups. Betsy was also a member of the Daughter’s of the King, Community of Hope and Bishop Garrett Society. She looked forward to preparing evening meals in support of Incarnation House which serves homeless students of North Dallas High School.
In lieu of flowers, the Daniels family has requested donations be made to Incarnation House. This nonprofit supports the at-risk teens of Dallas. Donations may be made online at www.incarnationhouse.org OR by mailing a donation to 4061 North Central Expressway, Dallas, TX, 75204.
