Obituary
Carolyn Robertson Ohl, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018, surrounded by her husband and children. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, January 15, 1931, the second daughter of Ernest and Claudia Robertson. Graduated from Wichita Falls High School, followed sister Virginia to the University of Colorado in Boulder where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. Carolyn met the love of her life Gerrit M. Ohl in Freshman English class where they were seated alphabetically. They were married at age 19 on June 16, 1950. Inseparable for almost 70 years, they inspired all by their example of devoted love. Following college, they lived in Wichita Falls before moving with their four children to Dallas in 1962. Carolyn was a devoted wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, sister, and friend. She was a tireless volunteer, including tutoring children in reading, caring for elderly at Treemont Retirement Home, Austin Street Shelter, Cub Scout den mother, Camp Fire Girls leader, home room Mom, clinic volunteer at the junior high, prayer shawl ministry and needlepointing kneeling cushions at church. Carolyn leaves behind her husband Gerrit, and 4 children: Jeffrey Ohl, Gregory Ohl (Tina), Sarabeth Ohl Sowan, and Marilu Ohl. She was grandma to 15 grandchildren: Kurt Ohl, Mark Ohl, Chad Ohl (Amanda); Heidi Ohl Sterling (Jeff), Travis Ohl, Ashley Ohl Jones (David), Courtney Danglade, David Ohl; Ricky Sowan, Stephen Sowan (fiancé Claire Griffy), Amy Sowan Rodgers (Blake); Heather Abbett Marra (Chad), and Luke Abbett (Natalie); Amber D’Angelo, Ashley D’Angelo. She leaves 10 great-grandchildren: Emma Grace Ohl; Madeline & Braydon Sterling, Garrett, Lyla & Clara Jones; Parker Rodgers; Avery & Ashleigh Marra, and Rylan Abbett. Also survived by Fred & Virginia Robertson Mattson of Denver, Colorado.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, TX 75204.

Gerrit and family, we were sorry to hear of Carolyns passing, she was such an inspirational person. I kept the thoughtful Christmas note she sent, she was truly a sincere and giving person. May you and the family find peace in her remembrance and rejoice in the love she shared.
