Obituary
Charles Benjamin “Charlie” Peterson was born on May 8, 1953 in Norton, KS to Leroy (Pete) and Helen Peterson, passed away November 5, 2019, in Dallas, TX, at the age of 66. Charlie spent his childhood in Norton and graduated from Norton Community High School in 1971. After high school, he received his master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Kansas. He continued to be an avid supporter of KU after graduating. He worked as a social worker at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City for many years, providing care for countless families as they encountered difficult health situations. He also provided support and assistance for those with substance abuse during his time in Kansas and continued this service during his time spent in Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph Peterson and Donald Peterson; sister Alice Goscha, and niece, Carol Brown and Grandnephew, Blake Sullivan. He is survived by brother Ken and wife Kay Peterson of Cypress, CA; brother, Mike and wife Carol Peterson of Arlington, TX; sister, Pat and husband Max Becker of Duncanville, TX; sister, Nancy and husband, Kennis McClelland of Beaver City, NE; brother, Larry and wife Jeannie Peterson of Olathe, KS; sister, Teresa and husband Ron Albers of Colwich, KS; brother, Maury and wife Jennifer Peterson of Colorado Springs, CO sister-in-law Karen Peterson of Norton, KS; and brother-in-law Don Goscha of Norton, KS; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. He touched many lives with his generous heart and giving soul. Whether it be great friends, family, coworkers, or even total strangers. His passion for cooking and charity work consumed his life and his memory will continue for years, to come.
