Raiza, Maebelle
Obituary
Maebelle Raiza (83), a long-time resident of Dallas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on September 27th, 2019. Maebelle was born on August 10th, 1936 on a farm near Itasca, Texas to Mattie Celene Holcomb (Arnold) and Oscar Weston Holcomb. Maebelle moved with her family to Dallas and attended North Dallas High School, graduating in 1954. She was recently involved and attended her 65th class reunion! She married the love of her life, Rex G. Raiza (Jerry to her), and spent 62 inseparable years together. They have three children, Gary, Janna and Rebecca. After their formative years, Maebelle courageously went to college. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at Plano General Hospital as a registered Orthopedic Nurse for 26 years. During these years, in addition to being a loving mother and wife, Maebelle stayed active with groups such as tennis, neighborhood clubs, and her children’s activities. Royal Lane Baptist Church was her church home since the 1960’s where she was very involved in many activities. The church and her friends were very close to her heart. She was also involved with volunteering at a local resale shop as well as staying in touch with her nurse friends. Maebelle is survived by her husband, Jerry; her son Gary Raiza and wife Tracy and daughter Lauren Cody; her daughter, Janna and husband Paul Fjerstad and their three daughters Lena, Thea and Mia; Rebecca Raiza and Dave Long; her brother Richard Holcomb and his wife Peggy along with seven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Donald Holcomb and sister Reba Joann Wright. Among the most important to her was being the glue that held a large group of family members and friends together. Her caring love of family and friends will be missed as she rests in the Lord’s grace forever.
Services will be held October 5th, 2:00 pm Royal Lane Baptist Church 6707 Royal Ln., Dallas, TX 75230.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Royal Lane Baptist Church.

This saddens me greatly. Maebelle was always a smiling face when encountered at Royal Lane Baptist. She will be missed.
