Obituary

Robert Clark Osgerby of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning January 15th, 2022. It ended a bravely fought battle following his beautiful life. He was the last born of five siblings of the greatest generation. He was 90 years old. Bob, known to his wife and good friends as Oz, was born April 20th, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to his parents Clark White Osgerby and Margaret Marie (Larrabee) Osgerby. He was happily raised in their small farming community of Caro, Michigan where a bright young man met a lovely young woman who became his wife. Betty Joan Duncan married Bob in 1952 and the rest is a story of success. Bob enlisted in the army and served his time. Afterward, he took advantage of the GI bill and earned his bachelors degree in business from Michigan State University in only three years. Bob began his working career shortly thereafter in 1958. Bob held several sales and management functions for Employers Insurance of Wausau. He was very committed to his job with a strong work ethic and traveled frequently. He and Betty moved around in the beginning where the company needed him with positions in Wausau, WI, Kansas City, MO, and Detroit, MI. Ultimately, he took a position in Dallas, TX where he set roots and faithfully served his employer for 36 years. From the beginning, It was always about the family for Bob. He so dearly loved his wife and their four children, Randy, Cathy, Karen, and John. Their welfare was his purpose and he accomplished that with flying colors. He was there, always there when he was needed. After retirement in 1994, he and Betty enjoyed traveling the world together and eventually purchased a second home in northern Michigan, to enjoy their summers with old friends and family. It was a great joy to he and Betty to return to their home state. His sense of humor highlighted his good nature and his children seemed to luckily inherit this quality. He experienced and expressed so many loving stories, laughs, and memories throughout his life. Bob lived simply, but fully and always brought a smile. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a good man. Robert is survived in death by Cathy Belaire (Osgerby) and husband Kent Belaire, Karen McCarty (Osgerby) and husband Greg McCarty and John Osgerby; Sister-in-law Judy (Duncan) MacIntosh; daughter-in-law Patricia Osgerby; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, seven granddogs, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all because he met a girl, hence, the beautiful life. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Clark and Margaret, his brothers Clare, Cecil, and Jack, his sister Jean, his son Randy, and his loving wife Betty. She passed recently on October 14th, 2021 and he certainly followed to be with her. They are a couple again. Bob and Betty both loved this passage: TOGETHERNESS Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always have. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before, only better, infinitely happier and forever, we will all be one together with Christ. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of New Horizon Homes for their heartfelt service and care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to: https://www.parkinson.org/ways-to-give Bob and Betty’s remains will be privately laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on March 11th, 2022. A celebration of life will follow at their residence in Plano Texas

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
