Obituary
Patricia Diane Goforth Shoemaker, 88, of Dallas, passed away April 28th with her family by her side. Diane was born to the late Dr. John L. and Patsy Goforth, on August 15, 1930 in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947 and received her BS in Home Economics from Southern Methodist University in 1951. Diane married the late James Earl Shoemaker in 1953 at Perkins Chapel on the SMU campus, and they made their home in Dallas. She is survived by three children: Jimmy Shoemaker (Christy) of Dallas; Kathy Geisler (Erich) of Sioux City, Iowa; John Shoemaker (Stacey) of Coppell. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: James Shoemaker III, Bailey Cochrum (Bryan) and children Jacob and Sadie, Jason Shoemaker, John Taylor (Carrie) and son Max, Payton Shoemaker and Lauren Shoemaker. Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, daughter Sandra Lynn Shoemaker and grandson Jacob Shoemaker. Meemaw loved her family and tolerated our jokes, noise and lively activity! She was a life-long member of Northway Christian Church and enjoyed being the Sunshine chair for her Sunday School class for many years. We know she is enjoying an abundant supply of shrimp and sweets, which she well deserves! She will always be our Little Princess!
A celebration of Diane’s life will be Saturday, May 4th at 11:00, Northway Christian Church 7202 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity, or the charity of your choice.
