Jim was born in Dallas December 31, 1944 to Wilburn Wier Tumlinson and Mary Louis Tumlinson. He was proud to be a third generation Dallasite. He was graduated from Paschal High School in Ft Worth where he lettered in swimming. He served in the Army for 6 years during Viet Nam and later worked at Texas Instruments before working in the hospitality industry. He and his wife, Barbara, were members of Lakewood United Methodist Church in Dallas. Jim was a gentleman and a gentle man, loving all living things including plants, flowers, animals and even small creatures. He especially loved his two dogs, Kiki and Max, and JoJo who passed away recently. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Wier Tumlinson, his mother, Mary Louis Tumlinson and sister Penny Tumlinson James. He was survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara West Tumlinson, sister Patricia Collins, brother-in-law Larry Collins, son Jamison Tumlinson, nephews John West, Jr, Jason West, James West and Heath Houghton, great nieces Anna West, Addisyn West, Josie West, and great nephews Johnny West, and Mack West. Jim will be remembered by all as a kind, caring gentleman. Due to the Covid 19 crisis, services are restricted to the immediate family but you can view the virtual celebration of life by going to www.facebook.com/LUMCDallas even if it is after the service. An open memorial will be planned for sometime in the future. In lieu of flowers, you may send offerings to Lakewood United Methodist Church or Operation Kindness.

Jim’s love of life and travel was a joy to see. He was a loving, supportive uncle who rejoiced when we rejoiced.
May the Lord bring comfort, love and peace to each of your hearts.
