Obituary
C. Randal Wier, of Dallas, left us Sunday morning, August 11, 2013. Randal was born on July 12, 1956. Advocate for those who needed his voice, a mentor, consummate professional and friend. Randal was Vice President, Quality Systems at Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas. He is survived by his mother, Carol Wier; his sister Linda Ault; nephew Grant Ault and his wife, Tasha; niece Alexis Ault; and extended family John (Trey) Wise III and Dori Ross. Randal was born and raised in Dallas, attending Skyline High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and later attended graduate school at Southern Methodist University and St. Mary’s University. His professional career included Sanger Harris, Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Lockheed Martin, and more than fourteen years with Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas. Randal was a skilled Equal Opportunity, Complaints and Hearing Officer. He was an active member of multiple statewide task forces, the Dallas Housing Authority’s Family Self-Sufficiency Committee, the DISD Adult Basic Education Advisory Committee, and previously served on the Dallas Mayor’s 10-year Plan to End Homelessness. He additionally acted as an Examiner for the Quality Texas Award of Performance Excellence. Randal was a member of Tannehill Masonic Lodge and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Randal was very committed to The Bridge North Texas Homeless Recovery Center and managed a project there for many years. He worked tirelessly, creating a workforce system for Dallas County, and assisting throughout the State of Texas. He is remembered and respected for his compassion, intellect, and wit. His actions within his community inspired his colleagues to emulate his commitment to excellence. Family and friends will join to honor and celebrate his life on Friday August 16, 2013 at The Joule Hotel, Mosaic Ballroom, 3p.m. Donations can be made in Randal’s honor to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children or The Bridge North Texas Homeless Recovery Center.
